Chris Friesen, founder and artistic director of Theatre Unlabeled.

Chris Friesen is an actor based in Winnipeg, MB.  He holds a Diploma in Acting from Rosebud School of the Arts in southern Alberta.

He has taught acting and improv in schools, as well as with organizations such as MTYP, Meraki Theatre, and Rainbow Stage; as well as the Manitoba Youth Drama Festival.  He has also been the Manitoba Producer for the Canadian Improv Games since 2023.

He has appeared in theatre and film in Winnipeg, including FAME: The Musical (Winnipeg Studio Theatre)  and Treasure Island (Looking Glass Theatre.) He will appear in the Canadian premier of Mr. and Mrs. Nobody with Looking Glass Theatre in February 2025.

He has trained with Aretha Sills and Gary Schwartz, two of Viola Spolin's students, and has been teaching her method for the past five years to students of all ages.  He makes this work the foundation of his own acting practice and is constantly amazed at the depth and richness of Spolin's method.

In addition to Theatre Games, Chris loves mask theatre and puppetry, and has trained in Michael Chekhov's acting technique.

Beyond acting he is a musician and songwriter (you can check out his music here ) and teaches guitar, banjo, ukulele, and bass guitar (go to chrisfriesenguitarlessons.com to find out more.)
